Extended CV

Brief CV:

Dr. Evangelia Tigka is an Assistant Professor in Applied Agriculture – Sustainable Cropping Systems at the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, School of Agricultural Sciences, University of Thessaly. She is a graduate of the Department of Plant Production, Agricultural University of Athens, where she obtained her BSc and Integrated Master’s degree. She also holds an MSc in Agriculture and Environment from the University of the Aegean, where she was awarded a merit-based scholarship for her academic performance.

In 2013, she completed her PhD with distinction at the University of Thessaly. Her doctoral dissertation, entitled “Biometric study of kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus) and maize (Zea mays) energy crops in crop rotation and legume green-manure systems under different soil and climatic conditions of Central Greece,” contributed significantly to the understanding of the relationships between cultivation practices, soil fertility, genotypic response and environmental variability, as well as to the assessment of the environmental footprint and overall sustainability of cropping systems.

Her research focuses on sustainable, low-input and regenerative agriculture, plant–soil interactions and green-manure and crop rotation systems. In addition, her work addresses the assessment of the environmental footprint of crops, the investigation of crop productivity under different soil and climatic conditions and the evaluation of genotypes for high and stable nutritional quality

She has served as main/fellow researcher in projects on applied and regenerative agriculture and has participated in numerous competitive national and European research programs, as well as in private- and industry-funded projects related to the development and implementation of innovative cultivation practices and the enhancement of sustainability in crop production systems.

Her scientific work includes more than 30 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and approximately 30 presentations at national and international conferences. She serves as a reviewer for international scientific journals and is a member of scientific societies. She also has significant teaching experience at the University of Thessaly and the University of Western Macedonia. She is fluent in English (C2) and has good knowledge of Italian (B2).
