Informative Event at the Department of Food Science & Nutrition by AN.KA. A.E. Representatives on the Ready for Work Mentoring” Initiative

An informative event for the students of the Department of Food Science & Nutrition of the University of Thessaly in Karditsa was held on Wednesday, May 21st, 2025, regarding the social innovation initiative “Ready for Work Mentoring.” The event was organized following an invitation by the Department’s President, Dr. Ioannis Giavasis.

The General Director of AN.KA. A.E., Mr. Evangelos Sakellariou, and the Program Manager, Mr. Vasileios Ganias, presented the voluntary mentoring services that will be offered free of charge by a network of mentors. The aim is to strengthen the skills of vulnerable young people aged 18–29 during their transition into employment—whether coming from education or from a period of inactivity—thus enhancing their employability and improving their quality of life.

Mentoring is presented as a modern learning approach that complements traditional training and counseling methods.

The program is funded by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) and is implemented across the entire region of Thessaly.

Additionally, due to the relevance of their academic studies, students were also informed about the upcoming LEADER program under the CAP Strategic Plan 2023–2027 and the opportunities it offers for funding investments in small-scale agri-food processing enterprises in the region.
