Brief CV


Dr Micha is an Associate Professor in Human Nutrition at the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, at the University of Thessaly in Greece. She is also an Adjunct Professor at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Polity, at Tufts University in the US.

Dr Micha is the Chair of the Independent Expert Group (IEG) for the Global Nutrition Report (GNR), the world’s leading independent assessment of the state of global nutrition. The Chair of the IEG is the lead of the GNR and is responsible for the appointment and management of the IEG comprising of world renowned experts in nutrition.

Dr Micha is a registered dietician, public health nutritionist and epidemiologist. She received her degree in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics at Harokopio University of Athens, Greece; her PhD in Public Health Nutrition at King’s College London, UK; and her postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Epidemiology at Harvard University, US. Following the completion of her postdoc, she was appointed Research Associate in the Department of Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health. She was then appointed faculty at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University, initially as Assistant Professor and thereafter as Associate Professor.

Dr Micha’s research focuses on the effects of diet on health, and on evaluating and implementing national and international nutrition policies and strategies. She collaborates with the world’s largest nutrition and health organizations, such as WHO, FAO, USAID, UNICEF and others.

Dr Micha is a Fellow of the American Heart Association. She has received multiple awards and distinctions, primarily from the National Institute of Health, and has published more than 150 articles in scientific journals with more than 80,000 citations.
