Introduction to Agriculture and Agro-Nutrition

The course is a basic introductory course to the principles and concepts of Agricultural Science. The course aims to familiarize students with Agriculture and agricultural production, its historical development and its prospects both in Greece and in Europe and worldwide. Emphasis is given to the general characteristics and structuralproblems of Greek agriculture. At the same time, reference will be made to manufacturing as a secondary sect or of agricultural production and the impact of agricultural production on the ecosystem and sustainable development. Also, the branches of agronomic science, the role of the agronomist and the use of modern technology in agriculture will be briefly presented. Finally, reference will be made to the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union and how it affects Greek agricultural production and the economy of the country.

Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:

eneral.
· To have a critical view of the practical applications of Agriculture both in everyday life and in areas of modern
science.
· To acquire critical thinking and understanding of the problems and pathologies of Greek agriculture.
· To understand the role of the Agronomist in modern Georgia. And in Agrifood
· To understand the role and position of the country regarding the Common Agricultural Production.
· To acquire skills in new ways of communication, access to the internet and scientific databases/contemporary
